Festive Fun at Bishop Road!

Celebrating the Success of the Bishop Road PTFA Christmas Events

This year’s Bishop Road PTFA Christmas events were a sparkling success, bringing our school community together in the warmest festive spirit. The Bishopston Christmas Market kicked off the festive season, welcoming over 30 talented stallholders who filled the hall with creativity and colour. From beautiful handmade jewellery, ceramics and dried flower arrangements to artisan cosmetics, spicy sauces and seasonal gifts, there was truly something for everyone. Friends and neighbours came out in force to browse, shop, and support local makers whilst having a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie to fuel their shopping!

The festive joy continued at our second big event, The Christmas Cracker, which saw hundreds of families from the local community come and enjoy the event (despite a pessimistic weather forecast!). Parents gathered to pick out their Christmas trees, sip mulled wine and listen to Christmas tunes (thank you kids choir and lovely piano player), while children immersed themselves in a world of seasonal fun. The elf hunt, lucky dip, Santa’s letters, “beat the Olaf goalie” challenge, Christmas craft table, cookie decorating, and so many other activities were all a real hit! A special mention goes to our wonderful teachers, who were such good sports – bravely taking part in the “throw a snowball at a teacher” game!

A heartfelt thank you goes to the Market and Cracker teams who helped organise the events, the volunteers who gave up their time on the day, and to the people who attended the events. Together they raised thousands of pounds, all of which goes directly back to Bishop Road Primary School. These funds help the PTFA purchase new books, support outdoor learning sessions, and contribute to long-term projects and improvements that enrich the school experience for every child. Thank you to everyone who helped make this festive season such a success!
